Update Vexira over the local network

The install script used for mirroring our update server can be downloaded from:

http://support.vexira.com/files/downloads/Vexira_Auto_Install_Update_Scripts.zip

Step 1:

Extract Vexira_Auto_Install_Scripts_All_32bit.zip  to the windows machine you were wanting to use to hold the updates. It will create a 'vexira' folder, share this over the network. It only needs to be readable.

Step 2:

Run the vexupdwin.bat file. This will go to our update site and download all the packages and updates, so they're available. This may take a while the first time it's run. Make sure your main firewall will allow the updates http://support.vexira.com/KB/a146/errors-with-updating-the-new-12x-database.aspx

Step 3:

You'll want to set the client to update from your server, instead of from our update site. To do this, go into the main Vexira window and go to 'Update' on the left. Under update sources, check 'Path' and set the source to the \\machinename\Vexira share. You can uncheck the HTTP and FTP sources. Then modify both of the update tasks shown below and make sure the source is changed to Path.

Step 4:

On the server, schedule a Microsoft Scheduled Task to run vexupdwin.bat under Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Scheduled Tasks.
