This happens when the user performing the updates does not have sufficient rights for the VirusDataBase12 in the "C:\Program Files\Vexira Antivirus\Professional" directory.
To fix this issue, perform the steps listed below (This should be done by a user with Administrative Privilege):
WinXP:
- Open "\Program Files\Vexira Antivirus\Professional" folder, right-click on the VirusDataBase12 folder and select Properties.
- Click on the "Security Tab". (If there is no Security Tab under Properties, Click Here for Steps on how to enable it)
- When a warning box pops up concerning incorrectly ordered permissions, Click on "OK"
- Select the "Everyone" Group

- Assign "Full Control" access to the Everyone, Click "Apply" and "OK" for the new settings to take effect.

- Run the VDB Update again.
Windows Vista / 7:
- Open "\Program Files\Vexira Antivirus\Professional" folder, right-click on the VirusDataBase12 folder and select Properties.
- Click on the "Security Tab".
- When a warning box pops up concerning incorrectly ordered permissions, Click on "OK"
- Select the "Everyone" Group and Click "Edit"
- Click on "Reorder" when the warning dialog box pops up.
- Assign "Full Control" access to the Everyone, Click "Apply" and "OK" for the new settings to take effect

Enabling the Security Tab under Properties
- Open "Control Panels" and Double-Click on "Folder Options"
- Click on the "View" tab, scroll down to "Use Simple File Sharing" and Un-check it.
- "Apply" and Click on "Ok" for the changes to take effect.
