To check to see if you need to upgrade, take a look in /usr/lib/vasambashield. If you have a vdb9.xml file, then you're using the new database format and shouldn't need to upgrade.
If instead you have a vexira8.vdb definition file, that means you are using an old database that isn't supported anymore. You'll want to upgrade to ensure you're still receiving the newest virus definitions.
1. Uninstall the old version
First we want to uninstall the old version. To do this, first stop Samba. Then, if you still have your original vasambashield package, there is a ;vasambashield.remove' script. You can run this and it will pull out all the files.
2. Download the new version
The new version of vasambashield is available from our downloads page here:
http://www.centralcommand.com/downloads.aspx
3. Install the new version
Extract the new version with tar:
tar -xzvf vasambashield-1.1.0-7-linux.tar.gz
Then run the install script:
./vasambashield.install
4. Restart Samba
Since samba was already set up to use Vexira, you shouldn't have to reconfigure it. Start Samba back up and check the network. That should be it.
